Pickup Options

Curbside

For smaller items, simply fill out our pickup request form, then place your items next to your bins to be picked up on your regular service day.

Driveway or Garage

Larger items can be placed in your driveway or garage to be picked up on your regular service day. Just complete the pickup request form and make sure we have clear access to the items.

Bulky Item Assistance

If you have items that are too large or heavy to move on your own, we’re happy to help. Fill out our pickup request form and we’ll make arrangements with you to help haul them from your home.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Many everyday household products (such as propane, gasoline, weed killer, pool chemicals, degreasers, thinners and more) can be dangerous and should not be placed in your curbside bins.

Residents can bring these materials to the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility located at the Salem-Keizer Recycling and Transfer Station for free. (Business hazardous waste is accepted by appointment only and will be charged a fee.)

Any items prohibited from going in your recycling and organic waste carts should be placed in your trash. This includes:

  • Non-Recyclable Plastic: Plastic bags; packing materials like “air pillows,” plastic lined envelopes and styrofoam; and plastic lids and screwcaps.
  • Takeout & Frozen Food Containers: Coffee/drink cups, lids and straws; takeout food containers, wrappers, paper plates and utensils; frozen food packaging and microwave meal boxes/trays.
  • Misc. Household Waste: Facial tissue, painted or stained wood and plywood, garden hoses, extension cords, and light bulbs (incandescent and LED only).
  • Must Be Bagged: Pet waste; diapers and feminine hygiene products; ashes, sawdust and packaging peanuts; broken ceramics, glass, etc.

Items that should not go in your garbage:

  • Batteries
  • Electronics (computers, monitors, and TVs)
  • Compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs)
  • Hazardous waste
  • Chemicals
