To start your trash and recycling service, fill out our New Residential Service form or give us a call and we’ll get you set up.
We ask for two months payment in advance to start service. Residential customers will be billed every other month.
We offer several convenient ways to pay your bill, including online.

Send a check by mail or deliver payment in-person to the address below. A drive-thru window is available.

If you’re moving to a new home that’s still within our service area, simply fill out our Transfer Service form or give us a call. We’ll make sure your account is updated and your carts are delivered to your new address.
If you’re moving to a new address outside of our service area, simply fill out our Cancel Service form or give us a call. We’ll make sure your account is squared away.
No. Roll carts should be placed on-street at the curb, off of sidewalks and 4 feet away from all objects (parked cars, mailboxes, other bins, etc.).
Our trucks are in service from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Yes, for select holidays. If your regular service day lands on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, or New Year’s Day, collection will occur one day late (through Saturday).
If it looks like you were missed on your regular service day, give us a call or fill out our Missed Service form and we’ll be sure to get things sorted.
If you have a container that’s suffering from cracks or a broken lid or wheel, simply fill out our cart repair form or give us a call. We’ll look to fix it up on your next scheduled pickup day.
Please be prepared to provide your cart’s serial number. If you don’t see it on the front center of your container, look on the upper right side of the body of the cart with the lid facing toward you.
See below for a list of which items can be placed in your recycling container. Please note that any tin or aluminum cans or food grade plastic should be rinsed and clean of any remnants. Paper labels are not required to be removed, but can be added to the cart separately.
Mixed Recycling (Blue) Cart
- Paper and non-waxed cardboard, including: junk mail, gift wrap (no foil, ribbons, or bows), magazines, newspaper, paperboard, phone books and paperback books, and office paper.
- Plastic bottles and jugs larger than 12oz. (Discard caps and pumps.)
- Metal
- Tin and aluminum cans
Yes, any tin or aluminum cans or food grade plastic need to be clean of any remnants.
Yes! Please be sure all boxes are flattened and packaging materials have been removed. Then simply stack them next to your cart and we’ll take care of it.
Food-grade plastic containers that are 12 ounces or larger can be placed in your blue mixed recycling cart. Please rinse first and dispose of any pumps or screwtops.
Shredded paper belongs in the garbage, due to the difficulty of sorting the material.
See below for a list of items that can be placed in your green organic waste cart. Please make sure your compostables aren’t contaminated with things that don’t belong, and never place organics in plastic bags.
Allowed compostables
- All Food: Coffee grounds and tea leaves, dairy products; egg shells; fruits and vegetables; meats, bones, and proteins; seafood and shells.
- Some Paper: Coffee filters, tea bags, food-soiled napkins, paper towels, and pizza delivery boxes (no frozen food boxes).
- Plants: Grass clippings, yard prunings, leaves, pine needles, weeds, flowers and floral trimmings. No poison oak.
Not Allowed: Pet waste, rocks, ashes, branches larger than 4” thick or 36” long, and processed wood.
If it grows it goes! From grains to fruits and vegetables to protein, all foods can be placed in your green organic waste cart.
Compostable Food Waste

Compostable yard debris bags are not accepted in our organic waste containers. Leaves, grass clippings, and other acceptable plant materials should be placed directly in your cart.
Any items prohibited from going in your recycling and organic waste carts should be placed in your trash. This includes:
- Non-Recyclable Plastic: Plastic bags; packing materials like “air pillows,” plastic lined envelopes and styrofoam; and plastic lids and screwcaps.
- Takeout & Frozen Food Containers: Coffee/drink cups, lids and straws; takeout food containers, wrappers, paper plates and utensils; frozen food packaging and microwave meal boxes/trays.
- Misc. Household Waste: Facial tissue, painted or stained wood and plywood, garden hoses, extension cords, and light bulbs (incandescent and LED only).
- Must Be Bagged: Pet waste; diapers and feminine hygiene products; ashes, sawdust and packaging peanuts; broken ceramics, glass, etc.
Items that should not go in your garbage:
- Batteries
- Electronics (computers, monitors, and TVs)
- Compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs)
- Hazardous waste
- Chemicals

If you find that you have extra trash frequently, you can also upgrade your cart size at any time — simply give us a call or fill out our Change Service form.

Yes! We offer 20, 35, 65, or 95-gallon trash carts for residential customers. If the size you started with is no longer working for your waste needs, you can update your cart size at any time. Just fill out our Change Service form or give us a call and we’ll make the swap on your next scheduled pickup day.
Yes! You can schedule a pickup with us and leave your items curbside or in your driveway or garage, or we can assist you with items too big or heavy to move on your own. Electronics such as computers, laptops, monitors, and televisions should not be placed in your trash cart. But we can pick them up! No. Many everyday household products (such as propane, gasoline, weed killer, pool chemicals, degreasers, thinners and more) can be dangerous and should not be placed in your curbside bins.
Residents can bring these materials to the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility located at the Salem-Keizer Recycling and Transfer Station for free. (Business hazardous waste is accepted by appointment only and will be charged a fee.)

Yes, we can dispose of your tree after the holidays. First, make sure all decorations, lights, and tinsel are removed. Then you have two options:
- Cut the tree into small pieces and place in your yard debris cart
- Leave the tree next to your cart on your regular service day and we’ll haul it away for an extra fee (fill out our contact form or give us a call for an estimate based on the size of the tree).
Note: Flocked trees can’t be placed in your yard debris cart. If yours is small enough for your trash bin, place it there. Otherwise, you can schedule a Junk Pickup, or visit our Drop-Off Locations page for self-disposal options.
